Vintage Moroccan Taznakht Rug 245/140 cm

Sourced from the Taznakht region in Morocco, circa 1980's. Features a sun-faded red field adorned with traditional Amazigh symbols in salmon and icy blue hues. The central motif is an intricate lozenge, which the weaver likely added as a wish for abundance and fertility. The highly detailed borders with repeated motifs indicate that the weaver wished to emphasise her message. A beautiful original worthy of passing down, along with its rich history.

Amazigh rugs are originally handmade by Amazigh women, who have learnt the skill of weaving from their mothers and grandmothers. Each piece is unique with a strong character that shows in the story they tell and the imperfections they proudly display, reminding us of the beauty of authenticity and slow patient craftsmanship.
